This started out to be a sample ballot, with links to websites, but I couldn't find the information except for statewide judicial races. I'm sorry for you - and for me as well.

Kevin Francis McCarthy sure has a name to run on; it sounds familiar and friendly, perhaps because of Kevin McCarthy, the actor.

I met Ann Lazarus at Binn's Park last October. She seems personable and intelligent, but I'm a registered Republican.

Temp Smith has a memorable name, and I'd predict failure for him; who wants a temp serving as a judge, But as one of three candidates running in a "vote for three", I suspect he'll win.

Sallie Mundy was Sally Updyke when she was growing up. A kid named Sallie Mundy would probably get teased mercilessly. Remembering the song "Boy Named Sue", that mightn't have been a bad thing. Would "gravel in the gut and mud in the eye" make for a tough but fair judge? But the point is moot.

Judy Olsen's website is "Elect Judge Judy Dot Com". That's enough to make me vote against her, all by itself - except she's running, with Temp Smith and Sallie Mundy in that "vote for three" contest.

This is only the primary, though. Temp Smith, Sallie Mander Mundy, and Judge Judy could all be defeated this fall, based on their names. That's a shame, when it's so much more fun to vote against politicians for substantive reasons. But we never hear much about judges before an election, so voters pick the names they like best (or that initial R or D after their name.)

Websites cost next to nothing. Why would anyone run for office and not bother to put together a website? That sounds like a good reason to vote for someone else.
