Words
In July, Congressman Joe Pitts said, "These statistics underscore the seriousness of this recession. I think we all need to keep those who are unemployed in our prayers."
Last Friday, Pitts announced, "This morning's announcement shows that even more American families are struggling to find work. This recession is not over and Congress should focus on job creation.
"The stimulus act passed earlier this year has utterly failed to hold back unemployment. Few American businesses were truly stimulated by this act, leading many employers to make the difficult decision to cut payroll."
And Action
So much for words. How did Pitts actually vote? Well, he decided to vote against extending unemployment compensation. (House Bill 3548). The house passed it anyway.
But I think Mr. Pitts needs a little more familiarity with the problems of the unemployed. A little practical experience, if you know what I mean. Maybe he can find out how much prayer helps you when you're in the checkout line at Amelia's.

AMEN!
Easy for these congressmen to say such things when they make how much money for working 3 days a week, not to mention their private banking system, their private retirement plan and their private health care system that only THEY have. Nope, they're too good for Social Security and any National Health System. All on our unemployed backs.
BTW, remember my engineering hubby? He works part time at Walmart these days.....and feeding 5 kids and a stay at home wife. Thank the Lord for our cows! They're feeding us, the chickens, and the pigs (that are growing nicely, thank you).
Came looking for your Ploughman's Folly link but it is gone. Not in the public domain, I think. Ah well. Need to check your Ruminants post then get math printed for the children. Nice to see you are still alive and kicking!
