I can't say that I have always preferred to shop locally. Before the age of about 4 or 5, I preferred to not shop at all. Things should magically just appear when I wanted them.
Then I realized that there were choices to be made, and if I wasn't involved in the shopping, they would be someone else's choices.
We Never Favored New Holland
We never used much Case-New Holland equipment on our farm in Ohio. Our big tractor was an Allis-Chalmers, although we used a Johnny-popper "A" to pull wagons and other light-duty jobs, and later we got a big Oliver. Our combines were always Gleaners.
We had a Case grain drill that we replaced with a John Deere drill about 1955 or 1960. We had an International Harvester plow. International ended up getting folded into Case before they merged with New Holland. We had a New Holland hay rake for a couple of years, but Dad didn't like it, and we sold it to buy another brand.
But now, I'm thinking that if CNH wants to get a farmer's business, they probably should, well, modernize their marketing. The CNH dealers give out baseball caps to people they're trying to sweet-talk into buying equipment. Seems to me that the folks in Bulgarians have a better approach to marketing farm equipment, though.
The top picture is the cover of the calendar. The bottom picture is September. Not all of the months are quite so racy, but they all make a man want to get out and fertilize something.
