There was an earthquake this morning, 6:30 New York time, or 12:30 PM local time in the Mediterranean Ocean near Crete.
Magnitude 6.4
Location
125 km (75 miles) SSE of Iraklion, Crete, Greece
195 km (120 miles) SE of Chania, Crete, Greece
275 km (170 miles) NNE of Tubruq, Libya
445 km (275 miles) SSE of Athens, Greece
If you want to look in Google Earth, it was at 34.240°N, 25.478°E
Depth
According to the USGS, the depth was 10.2 km (6.3 miles), with a location uncertainty of horizontal +/- 5.2 km (3.2 miles) and depth +/- 13.7 km (8.5 miles). But while it might have been 8.5 miles deeper, it wasn't likely to be that much shallower, because that would place the quake about 2.2 miles up in the air.
I haven't heard anything about this in the news; I presume there's no damage. It's just that I get a feed of earthquakes over magnitude 2.5, and this one was unusually strong.
